I started back at work last Thursday and I'm feeling a bit disoriented...getting back to nights and back to my work. I'm thinking it will take a week or two before I start feeling like this is normal again ;-). Work has been going well...I've already been to labor and delivery for more fetal monitoring training, was floated to postpartum where I had fifteen patients with my corpsman, and was charge on my unit the other night. There were lots of emails and training to catch up on...not to mention the chart audits! I have lots to do. On top of all that, I start my masters degree on Monday and am excited, but also a bit nervous for that. Anyway...When I come up for air in about two weeks...I think I'll have my schedule mostly figured out...at least I'm hoping! It is kind of a lot to take it right now. I'll post updates in a few weeks!

I had an AMAZING vacation! Where to start?! Well...I got the prettiest view of snow-capped Mt. Rainier while flying in to Seattle. For the most part, it was sunny and 70-80 degrees while there...though we did get to about 100 degrees one day. If you haven't been to Seattle in the summer...you are missing out. It is so beautiful and I didn't miss Virginia's humidity at all! I arrived and my Dad picked me up...and then I got to see everyone. Homecomings are always the best! That first night, my grandmothers came over for dinner and later, I caught up with my sister. By the time I went to bed, I think I had been awake for the majority of 31 hours since I didn't sleep the night before...took a while to transition from night shifts. I'll just break down my vacation by day for those of you who are interested ;-) Went paddle boarding with Mom and we managed to not fall off! It was so much fun…would totally do it again. We got out there on the lake and then went swimming J. I spent the afternoon walking around my neighborhood and checking in with neighbors and at the pool (where I worked for ten years). In the evening, my family went out for dinner :-) My family went miniature-golfing...which I lost at, but we had some good laughs! We also got caught in the rain. I think it rained maybe twice while I was there...and we definitely got rained on. We all huddled under this little bridge and sang Disney songs till it subsided enough to continue playing. That “Let It Go” song sure gets stuck in your head! After that, we headed to Edmonds, were we played Whirlyball at my Aunt's surprise birthday party. For those of you who do not know...Whirlyball is a cross between bummer cars and basketball. It is completely hilarious and so much fun! I would like to play again! My family went up to Anacortes and got breakfast at this little diner. We then took the ferry to Lopez Island (one of the San Juan Islands) and biked all over it! It was beautiful outside and I had so much fun biking again. Apparently Lopez was supposed to be the most flat of the Islands...which I have a hard time believing since I feel like most of the time, we were either going up or down some hill. My favorite part of the ride was when we stopped at Shark Reef...the lookout is awesome. We climbed all over the rocks and I even waded in the water. We biked into the village for lunch and then back to the ferry where we played a thrilling game of Egyptian War till the ferry came. It was a good day...and I was tired after! We biked about 21 miles :-). I met up with one of my dearest friends, Rachel. We originally met at Bible college after high school and have been friends ever since. We met each other halfway…in a cute town called Fairhaven. I loved walking the boardwalk, going to Wood's coffee shop, and touring the little shops, but the best part of the day was catching up with a good friend. I think we talked about non-stop for 9 hours! We obviously had a lot to say. We may have stopped in at a consignment shop and tried on very outdated dresses while waiting for the dinner restaurant to open ;-) I met up with another dear friend, Carrie. We caught up, went down to Woodinville, went to Jamba Juice for smoothies, and watched Call the Midwife. She'll be moving out East soon and I am so excited that we won't be too far from each other! We've been friends since high school. That evening, my Bible study leader from VA came to dinner to meet my family. It is funny how we both ended up being in WA at the same time...the timing was perfect! I met with my cousin and she told me all about her experience at Bible school...she went to the same one that I did and it was so fun hearing how positive her time had been! I miss it! That evening, we had an extended-family birthday party! Almost everyone was in town for it :-). Later that evening, I caught up with my sister...we laughed and talked...and laughed and talked some more. I sure miss that! I met with my good friend from college. We spent most of the day sitting by the water in Edmonds and catching up...seems to be a theme! We also got ice cream and went out for lunch. The day went way to fast...hoping we get more time next time! That evening, my cousins, sister, and I (eight altogether) had a slumber party! We made dinner, went downtown for a dance party on the docks, played party games, and then watched Ivanhoe (a movie we used to watch all the time while growing up). I was thoroughly exhausted by the end of our time together...perhaps I'm getting too old for slumber parties ;-)! |
