I started the week in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). I enjoyed my time on that unit, but it was so sad too. I think I may want to work there eventually. My goal is to go to labor and delivery first. There are more stationing options with labor and delivery than there are with NICU. I do like working with babies! The nurses in the NICU were great to work with. I have had really great preceptors overall...only two more weeks of residency before my life changes again!
Beyond that, I'm enjoying driving my new car around...works so well and really gives me a lot more freedom! I went shopping with my friend yesterday and went to a hockey game on Friday with some friends. There are so many possibilities now! The hockey game was fun because it was the first one I had ever gone to and my team won...though I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to see a fight! ;-)
I'm already thinking about getting my masters degree starting next year. The Navy has this tuition assistance program that I will definitely be taking advantage of. The degree I would be going for is a Master of Arts in Human Services with the concentration being life coaching. I'm very excited about the possibility of starting that! I hope to someday have my own business...but that is another story for another time.
Other than that, I went to Bible study this week. That is the highlight of my week! It was funny because usually, everyone is talking about their ships or other Navy-related work...and I don't understand all of their terminology or acronyms. On Thursday, I got to talk about nursing a little...felt good to be talking about something that is familiar territory (with it's own terminology and acronyms)! ;-)
Well...my break is about over and I still have so much to do before this next week begins. Enjoy the pictures!
