So...my coworkers recommended a number of beaches to me the other day when I asked which the best ones were. I went to all three of them last week on Wednesday! The first beach is at Fort Story and I enjoyed a nice long walk...beautiful! I've included pictures! Apparently, that is a good one to go to during the summer since it is on a base and therefore...not busy. The second beach I went to was also on a base (and apparently doesn't get very busy either). It is at Camp Pendelton...not the San Diego one if that is what you are thinking! It is hard to find, but is a little Army base...also a nice beach and I stopped and had lunch there. The last beach I went to was Sandbridge Beach...a public one, but huge and I ended up lying out in the sand and reading my books. All in all...a great day! I have decided that I love living near the beach!

I just happened to find your blog while searching for other nursing blogs. Congratulations on your commission as a Navy Nurse and thank you for your service and commitment to this country, to others, and yourself. I look forward to reading more.

I did not start out as a Navy Nurse, I enlisted first serving on two nuclear submarines then went back to school to get my degree. I am so very blessed to have had my Navy experience. It led me to a wonderful wife, who is also a nurse. We have 6 children, 5 girls and 1 boy, all of whom are grown adults: the youngest turns 22 this May. Now add to the mix 11 grandchildren, 3 big dogs, 2 cats, and 1 chihuahua who runs the entire operation... God blesses us in so many ways. After the Navy, I went to work as an Emergency RN in a small rural hospital with 9 ED beds and one doc. There I found another passion and went into quality. Now, I work at the director level of a major California hospital system leading my team of nurses and administrative specialists who are responsible to the patients and hospital for quality, risk management, regulatory, infection prevention, and physician credentialing.
