Beyond that, I went to Bible study...always a highlight of my week! Last Monday, I got to hang out with a good friend...so my week was full of blessings. My favorite part of the weekend was visiting my sister-in-law and nephew in North Carolina. I left for NC on Friday afternoon after work. It's about a 4-hour drive. It is super pretty too since most of the drive is along highways through the country-side. I really enjoyed it...in my new car! Anyway, I got to NC and caught up with LeeAnn that night. On Saturday, I slept in very late (since I always seem to be exhausted)! LeeAnn and Caleb showed me a bit of their world. I got to see Camp Lejeune (the Marine base), we went shopping, went out to Chiles for their molten lava cake...we split it and it was SO GOOD! I got to go to one of LeeAnn's Scentsy parties and that was fun. I have a new warmer and scent in my kitchen and it is wonderful! Caleb was so cute and I enjoyed playing with him. He called me Aunti Laura (my sister) for much of the weekend, but by Sunday...I was Auntie Carolyn consistently! It was so refreshing to get out of Portsmouth and see family again. LeeAnn and I got to catch up...perhaps my favorite part...and then we watched RED...such a funny movie! I loved attending their church...reminded me of my church back home.
That was my weekend...too short, but good. This week is starting off differently since it is my final week in nurse residency! So excited, but a little nervous to start my 12-hour shifts next week. My schedule will be largely unpredictable for a while and I may perhaps miss the 8-10-hour days. It's weird, because I'll be on 12s for one week and then will have to stop because I have a 2-3 week class to take in November. I should be independent on the floor at the end of December or early January.
Today...I have been driving between Portsmouth and Norfolk Naval Base. That place is huge! I was so proud of myself for finding the legal department fairly easy! We are supposed to be deployment-ready at all times...so that is what I was preparing for. I went there to get my will and advanced directives filed. It's funny, because I met with a JAG officer...reminds me of the show! Used to be one of my favorites. Beyond that, I am trying to finish my computer-based training. The Navy has so much training that I am required to complete...course after course of it! That is my main mission today since it is an ADMIN day for me...thank God! There is so much to do and never enough time! My to-do list for home has over twenty items on it for today alone. I feel like I spend much of my time running around...just one of those things ;-).
