It’s funny because I’m actually really happy being here. I don’t enjoy everything, but I like the people and that’s what makes it kind of fun. I actually have a really hard time not laughing. There are so many things that are hilarious to me. I’ll have to share them later, but I doubt they would be as funny to anyone outside of here. Regardless, I usually have a great big smile and I just can’t help it. The worst is at meals because we have to stand at attention until everyone is present and then we sit down upon command, but when you are not eating, we have to stare straight ahead (someone is always across from you). I feel bad because I’ll think of something funny and start smiling for no apparent reason…I hope I don’t offend anyone because it almost never has to do with the person across from me.
One of the things that has killed my sleep, but also been the most fun are the “girl talks” my roommate and I have before we go to bed. We both agree that it is detrimental to our sleep, but we just can’t seem to help it. Sometimes I laugh so hard and I just hope that the people around us can’t hear. After about two nights in a row that we talked super late, my roommate jokingly told me that when something happens, she'll run and tell me right then so that we can talk about it and save time at night. It's funny because all day long, we are supposed to be quiet and keeping talking to a minimum or none...so by the end of the day...there is just so much to say! By the way, my roommate is a medical student also from the West Coast.
