Beyond that, I have been keeping very busy with mostly miscellaneous things. I got my legal stuff straightened out this week. We are supposed to be deployment ready at all times, so I met with a JAG officer and got all my legal work up to date and official. I also had a number of chances to catch up with friends and family this week...always a good thing. People ask me what I do when I'm not working and honestly...I'm not entirely sure. All I know is that during the week, there is barely enough time to sit down between keeping my apartment squared away, preparing my uniforms, preparing for work, connecting with people, Bible study, grocery shopping, etc. It is sure busy! I didn't get nearly enough sleep this week, so on Friday night, I went to bed early and slept for 14 hours...never have done that before. Apparently, I am far more exhausted than I realized! All in all, I love being in the Navy Nurse Corps. Busy, but good also! I look forward to having more to tell you, but for now...I am beginning on my unit, am starting to volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center, volunteer at an animal shelter, have applied to begin my masters this coming year, and am trying to keep my head above water mostly! ;-) Time...is the one thing there is never enough of!
On Friday, I graduated from the Nurse Residency Program! I am so excited to be done with one thing and on to the next! I worked a few days this past week on my permanent unit. I am not on postpartum like they told me, but instead, I am on the complicated OB and OB/GYN surgery unit. I really like it since it gives me a bit more variety than postpartum did. It will be great preparation for labor and delivery! I can't wait to be on that unit...anywhere from 6-18 months away. Anyway, I start my 12-hour shifts tomorrow. It's been a while since I have had to do those, but I'm looking forward to being on a different schedule.

Oh...and I'm still trying to figure this out, but I think you have to be on active duty for one year before you take the Tuition Assistance. Also...WARNING...when you opt to do Tuition Assistance, you have to serve two years from the point you end your schooling. For me, I'll finish school 2.5-3 years into my Navy commitment...so the two years is within my whole commitment of 5 years. If you finish 4 years into your 5-year commitment, then you will have to serve 6 years. Basically, the Navy makes things fairly confusing. Hope I didn't confuse you more! DUINS comes with additional service also...and that is on top of your commitment
